7 day retreat | February 3rd – 10th 2018
About Emma Conally-Barklem:
Emma has been practising yoga since 1999 and was taught by Gayle Hilton using a traditional approach to Ashtanga yoga. Emma was inspired to explore and practice Hatha and Shadow yoga with some martial arts thrown into the mix.
Emma completed her yoga training with the BWY, studying for the Level 4 500+ hours teaching qualification over a period of 3 years. Emma has recently completed a 40 hour Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series Teacher Training Immersion Course with the World renown and much loved Master Ashtanga Yogi, David Swenson, who was one of Patabhi Jois’ original students in Mysore, India. Emma has been inspired by many international yogis such as Donna Farhi, Liz Lark and Zoe Knott’s Strength in Asana work.
Continued self development is at the heart of Emma’s teaching – always innovative she shares everything she learns with her students whether they be seasoned Ashtangis or the walking wounded; she believes strongly in Krishnamachariya’s words ‘if you can breathe, you can do yoga’ As such, all are welcome in Emma’s varied and colourful classes.
Emma’s approach is playful, heart centred and guided by Yogic texts such as The Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
About the retreat:
On this holiday the morning sessions will involve an enlivening mix of Prana- flow sequences with strength work drawing on Hatha Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions. We will journey towards a variety of postures and see where the journey takes us!
The afternoon session will be restorative and nurturing asana, working with the breath and with some meditation and deep relaxation.
