Each day, wake up and refresh your body with a lovely yoga session, before embracing what the day will bring.

During the week you will get to know the local village.

Enjoy a peaceful river cruise on the Alahein river in a dugout canoe.

And learn to cook a local dish, and walk the beaches!

Your teacher is Linda Verasdal

Linda holds a Yoga certificate from Himalayan Yoga Bliss, Darjeeling, India.

Her yoga style is playful Vinyassa Flow with restorative elements.

Linda spends half her year in the Gambia with her partner David and she is the founder of Ethical Travel Portal and The Cotton Trail Gambia.

Itinerary of the week

Day 1

Arrival in The Gambia

Welcome to The Gambia! Pick up at the airport and transfer to the lodge. In the bush, and by the sea. Here you will spend the next week doing yoga out in the nature and get to know the local culture.

Get settled in. In the afternoon we will do a short yoga introduction, to get you started!

Dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Grab some tea and fruit in the morning, before we move over to the yoga shala to get the day going and your body moving!

After a lovely fresh breakfast, our local expert Sarani will take you on a walk to Gunjur village. Here you will experience the daily life in a local village, visit the market, see the school and meet people enjoying their chat while watching life pass by…

Return to Footsteps around lunchtime and spend the rest of the day at own leisure.

Day 3

Rise & Shine Yoga on the Beach

This morning we get up before sunrise, grab our tea and fruit and walk down to the beach as it slowly is getting lighter. We will do our yoga flow on the beach, as the sun is rising.

After the yoga, there is time for a swim or simply enjoy the sound of the waves before we slowly start walking back to the lodge for a late breakfast.

Spend the rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 4

Yoga in the Morning & Cook like a Local

Good morning, Sunshine! After tea and fruit we meet at the yoga shala for today’s yoga flow.

After breakfast, you will learn how to cook a local dish. Join Mary in to the village and the market to buy the ingredients needed for today’s cooking. Back at the lodge, take part in the cooking process which will end with a delicious lunch.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Day 5

Yoga in the morning & Beach Walk in the Afternoon

We start the day with a lovely yoga session in the Shala…

Rest of the day is at own leisure. Maybe you want to have a massage or a pedicure?

Day 6

River Sun Rise & Yoga

Today we get up early and drive to Kartong riverside where a relaxing trip on the river is waiting. This is with a dugout canoe, no engine, and very peaceful as the birds wake up…

We will end our trip at a lodge by the river where we will do a short yoga sessions before breakfast is served by the riverside.

We return to the lodge in the late morning. Spend the rest of your day at own leisure.

Day 7

Yoga in the Morning

Enjoy your morning tea and fruit, before we meet for our final yoga session at the shala. Today we are finishing off our yoga week, and hopefully you have some good tools to bring with you in life.

Spend the rest of the day as you wish.

Day 8

Departure from The Gambia

According to your flight, transfer to the airport for your departure. We hope you had a great time this week, and that we see you soon!
