We are proud of our chefs and our Gambian menu at Footsteps and that our food and drinks are sourced locally from reputable suppliers. Our menus vary each day to use seasonal produce. Our fruit and vegetables are bought from neighbouring farmers and our bread is baked early morning by local bakers (the local Senfu is just like a warm French baguette). Indeed some of our produce is grown by our gardener Kunjang Bass at the lodge and delivered to our open-view kitchen just moments before your food is prepared.

Fresh food from buffets to a la carte
Our European food benefits from the wonderful quality and freshness that comes via a climate of long sunny days and plentiful water.
Gambian food dishes are full of flavour, usually a little spicy, like Domada (a peanut and chili stew), Yassa (a mustard and onion sauce) and Benachin (which is similar to a risotto).
Wake up and find tea, coffee and fresh local juices waiting for you at the bantaba. Then choose from our healthy food options of fresh local fruits, smoothies, muesli and homemade jams or enjoy a traditional English breakfast of local eggs, bacon and sausages with grilled tomatoes, your perfect start to each morning while on holiday.
Available from noon til 4 pm, we offer a varied selection of food including Vegan and Vegetarian: filled baguettes, light bites such as hummus and olives and salads. If your appetite needs a little more satisfying we serve homemade quarter pounder burgers (beef, chicken and veggie) as well as grilled fish or chicken with chips. Picnic lunches can be arranged on request.
Each evening we present a three course a la carte menu offering a choice of two starters, three main courses and two desserts. All menus serve vegetarian, meat, fish, European and Gambian food from which to choose.
Starters and desserts are £3.50 and main courses are between £5.95 and £9.50. We hold local buffets and bbq’s every week (around a fire including local music).
