Good news for vaccinated travellers

Good news for vaccinated travellers!

Good news I hear you say! What’s that?

It’s been a very long time coming but this week we have seen that there may be light at the end of the tunnel for holidaymakers coming from and returning to The UK.

In my last news update, “Is it now safe to travel to The Gambia“, I detailed my recent experience travelling into and out of The Gambia.

The rules for vaccinated travellers are about to change for the better. And I wanted to let you know what that means if you have been waiting to see if The Gambia will become an option for you this season.

So what are these new rules and how will they affect you if you plan to visit us.

Traffic light changes

From Monday the 4th of October countries that are currently classified as being Amber will become Green. This means that in The Gambia you will no longer be required to have a PCR test before traveling back to the UK. This one change alone means you get to enjoy 100% of the time you have in the country. It also means you will be £35.00 better off. Also, upon returning home to The UK, you will no longer be required to pay for costly day 2 and day 8 tests. Instead, you will take a much more convenient and cheaper Lateral Flow Test on day 2 only. As long as it’s negative, you’re good to go.

A big deal

This news for vaccinated travellers is no small thing! It’s a great big, hugely massive deal. Mr. Schapps has even said these rules would remain at least till the New Year.

Don’t think for one moment that these new rules signal the beginning of the end. Oh no! we have all learned valuable lessons these past 18 months. At Footsteps we are ready and prepared to offer you all the great things we always have and now in a covid safe way.

Remember, you can book your holiday with no deposit and nothing to pay until 28 before you travel.

Also, you have the protection of knowing once you’ve paid you may still cancel and get a full refund. Read our Terms & Conditions.

You can protect yourself even further by taking advantage of the preferential rates offered on Travel Insurance with Covid Cover as standard.
