Is Covid insurance available?

Yes, we have partnered with Heymondo to bring you world-class insurance and as a Footsteps customer, you get a discount too!

When is the best time to visit The Gambia?

The Gambia is amazing all year round, but the main holiday season is from November to June. From May 1st until 1st November, Footsteps closes its doors to conduct essential maintenance and for our staff to receive some well-earned time off ensuring a high-quality product each year for our guests. Is electricity available?

Yes, 240v – 3 or 2 pin. In your room we have designated charging points from 10 am – 5 pm. Bring your charger for your phone or camera.

Can I use a hairdryer?

No, our power system cannot support, hair dryers, travel kettles, or anything that uses more power than a laptop.

Is linen provided?

Bed linen and towels are provided. You may use the towels poolside.

Can I exchange currency?

Pounds sterling, Euros and US Dollars can be exchanged for Dalasi at the lodge. ATMs are not reliable so it is best to bring enough cash.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes, you can pay your bill by credit/debit card, Visa or Mastercard.

Are there any mosquitoes?

The area around Footsteps is dry so there are not many mosquitoes in the winter season. Nets are available for your use.

How do we get to/from the airport?

We have a 24/7 airport service, so whenever you are coming or going, we are there for you! Airport transfers are charged at £30 each way for up to 4 persons and the drive takes approximately 1 hour.

Are there laundry facilities?

Yes. The staff can do your washing and ironing for a small fee.

How can I pay for my holiday?

You can pay by BACS, by cheque. Through our Freetobook system, you can easily pay by PayPal or by credit card as well.

How far away is the beach?

About 20-25 minutes walk through the bush along well-defined paths. Or we can take you there.

Does the lodge have wifi?

Yes in communal areas. It is a shared bandwidth of approx 6 Mbps and is most reliable early in the morning.

Where is the nearest medical facility?

Africmed is a modern medical facility 20 km away along the coastal highway

Can I book and pay online?

Yes, you can book online with No Deposit and full cancellation rights up to two weeks before your due travel date.
