I moved to The Gambia in 2001 having spent most of my working life in finance. Footsteps was opened in January 2002 employing 20 staff, most of which are still working alongside us to this day. We have set new standards in eco-tourism in The Gambia and strive to set new standards each year.

I love to travel, I and love wildlife photography. I’m Italian and based in Spain for 17 years, in my research saw the Gambia as a pretty good option. Researching deeper on the internet and YouTube, I realised that the Gambia actually could be a great option. Only 4 hour’s flight from  Barcelona, beautiful weather, […]

Interesting names and I can see immediately why it would be called Scarlet-spectacled and Common Wattle-eye could refer to it being widespread but Brown-throated refers to the female only. I have examined the pictures below and can’t find even a

My Experience in Gambia

Ian-Wilding

In search of winter sun. My experience in Gambia was as a tourist with no firm plans apart from relaxation and recharging my batteries (which seem to be solar-powered). I was simply in search of some winter sun, but I found a paradise that was so far removed from the usual winter holiday destinations that
